| Liver Biopsy Coming Soon and CEA Levels Dropped Again! | Views: 113 |
Hi everyone.
We had a meeting with Dr. Barrington on January 22nd to discuss the results of Mom’s latest 3D scan. The scan revealed lots of good news. The tumor is shrinking significantly, the suspicious spots on her liver have not changed and her lungs are still free of any signs of cancer. And, her CEA levels dropped again from 44 to 15!
Also, Mom has opted to have a biopsy of her liver to verify that the spots seen on the 3D scan are or are not cancerous. Regardless of the results of the biopsy, Mom will be undergoing at least one more month of chemotherapy. This chemo is much stronger and will cause her to feel more ill and may cause her hair to fall out so she is attending a beauty session this week to learn how to look great even when you don’t feel great which is sponsored by TLC.
If the biopsy shows that the spots on the liver are cancerous then she will undergo two months of chemotherapy instead of only one month. After this treatment is over, she will be ready for surgery to remove the original tumor and hopefully start getting back to life as usual. I know Mom is ready for that but we will have to wait and see how all the treatment goes. We are anticipating the surgery to be sometime in April 2007.
