MOONING FOR MOM FundraiserViews: 192

Hello Everyone!

Our blog entries on this site are taken from our main web site at www.nickysfight.com

My sister and I are doing a fund raiser to help pay for our mom’s medical costs. My mom is self employeed and between medical premiums, co-insurance, and co-payments, her health care costs is around $10k a year!

My sister and I are selling funny electronic or paper reminders that can be sent to friends and loved ones reminding them to be screened for colorectal cancer. You can view this funny reminder at www.nickysfight.com

We also added Google search to our website to help raise funds. If you use Google search, please use it from our website as we will get a small payment (less than $1.00) each time you do.

Please check us out at www.nickysfight.com

Welcome to the club.

Hope all goes well with your Mom.

Hi,
Please ask your mom to check in to local cancer support groups. Family is not enough support (no offense) I have found that you spend most of your energy trying to convince family and friends you feel ok, you are going to be ok and answering questions so much that instead of feeling better you are exhausted.
Support groups are really good for this. It is 1 place you can be totally real. It is ok to say chemo sucks and there are days I really don’t know if I can keep it up. Your family doesn’t want to hear this usually. The other people in the group have been there and totally understand and usually have suggestions on coping with whatever added stress you feel at the moment.
I have been battling stage 4 colon cancer since July ‘05. I was 41 when I was diagnosed, I am now 43, I am cancer free for now and I start the post surgical chemo (Folfox + Erbitux)on the 20th. This will be the 3rd time thru chemo. I swore I would not do it again but after facing a reocurrance I decided I would give it 1 more shot.
I belong to an online based support group http://www.pinellascountysurvivorsnetwork.org/
we have several links on there that may be of use for your mother. Also, since we have similar conditions and chemo protocol my blog is on http://users.blogforacure.com/stage4
Good Luck and God Bless
Donna Richno

Welcome to the group. Good luck with your fundraising.
