Garage Sale ExtravaganzaViews: 254

Hello All!

So this past week-end I put on a benefit garage sale and we raised a total of $920 and I still have some items that were donated that I am going to try and sell on eBay and/or Craig’s List. For a garage sale, I think that we did pretty good and assuming that we sell a few of the big items we have left I think that we should hit around $1100 or so total. I must say though that I never knew how much work a garage sale is! And…I don’t think that I thought through how much we would raise because I don’t think that the money raised justified the amount of work it took to put the event together. But…we did have a good time hanging out with family, met some of the new neighbors, and a few friends stopped by even though it was on the other side of town. We had the event at my uncle’s house (because I live in an apartment) and my cousins helped sell soda and ice cream and we BBQ’ed for ourselves which is always fun. If anyone out there is thinking of doing such an event I would suggest getting a group of friends together to help put it on so that the work can be spread around a bit . I think that the best part of the event was feeling like I was doing something. With my mom having difficultly with her incision healing from the surgery I was really feeling like all we were doing was sitting around waiting for life to happen…which is never good. Action is always better.

Looks like you had a good time and even made some money.

Sherri

Your mom is so lucky to have you gals. Glad you got some good bonding time in.
